Frequently asked questions about the elementLOGIC system.
Isn’t it necessary to have high IT costs to manage our compensation business requirements?
We both know and accept that there is always a better solution that can be more cost effective and efficient. At inLOGIC, we know that our elementLOGIC compensation engine will have a huge impact in cost savings for most wireless companies. Click here to request a case study from our team.
Do we still need IT resources to implement on-going business requirements in elementLOGIC?
Yes. Organizations will still require IT resources to manage the implementation process and supervise the system. No compensation system can eliminate the need for an IT staff. elementLOGIC will free up your IT staff for more productive tasks through drastically reducing the time and labour wasted within current business implementation systems.
In some instances, business users will be able to directly manage the compensation rule entry.
We have very complicated business requirements which we do not believe elementLOGIC can handle. Do you have any special means of delivering complicated custom rules?
elementLOGIC is the most powerful and flexible system on the market, and can capture all of an organization’s business rules. In special cases, we provide a JAVA interface where custom qualification rules can be designed within the elementLOGIC system. The registered custom JAVA class will become part of the rule selection and can be used again in a new compensation rule entry.

What technology was used to develop elementLOGIC?
The current version was developed using Java with C/C++ protection logic under UNIX. The Oracle Database and UNIX environment is used as the operational platform for engine processes. Thin and rich client run on UNIX and Windows environment.
What can it do?
elementLOGIC allows users to translate business requirements into entities, attributes and relationships. Once translated, these configured attributes become programmable variables, allowing users to write rules to fulfill business requirements. Only users of elementLOGIC are capable of doing this.
You say that elementLOGIC can drastically reduce pre-processing. What specific steps does it eliminate?
The delivery process of every business requirement follows the outline below. This applies to all in-house systems as well as traditional vendor-based systems.
- Business requirement is analyzed
- Staging process is written to bring new data if required
- Mediation layer is written
- Reporting and EFT to financial system (SAP)
- Over 50% of overall effort and time
- Operational processes are written to create and maintain data in operational data store
- Validation and qualification logic is created and maintained according to business rules
- Pre-processing logic external to vendor-based systems created and maintained to support business rules
elementLOGIC removes the entire mediation layer by introducing compensation rule language. The removal of mediation layer drastically reduces both time and effort without sacrificing flexibility.
How is elementLOGIC different from other vendor systems?
Other vendor systems process one-time data without keeping track of the life cycle of source data. This gap can only be filled by creating a mediation layer to pre-process, create and manage intermediate data. Over the years, this mediation layer can become a system of its own, containing much of the business logic.
With elementLOGIC, users are able to write rules that follow through the life cycle of the source data.
For example, let’s follow the steps a typical subscriber could make:
- Subscriber activates (create)
- Subscriber changes equipment (update)
- Subscriber upgrades rate plan (update)
In each of these steps, a vendor system needs an external system to pre-process the data. elementLOGIC does not. elementLOGIC only requires a staging process to bring in the data as they occur from the source system. Alone, this eliminats over 50% of overall effort.
Frequently asked questions about Subscriber compensation.
What is elementLOGIC Subscriber Edition?
It is a compensation system designed to turn customers into salespeople. Active subscribers can provide valuable information and recommendations to their friends and family. elementLOGIC Subscriber Edition is a tool that can be used to motivate and reward successful referrals.
What can it do?
elementLOGIC Subscriber Edition can be custom configured to process millions of payees (referrer-subscribers) based on any business activities determined by the wireless carrier.
Can it help to reduce the churn?
An active subscriber is the best person to recommend a product to his/her peers. This encouragement can lead to new subscriber activations and rewards for the referrer. Although the reward may be small in term of monetary value (i.e. $2.00 for each referral for 12 months), the referrer-subscriber is essentially getting a special rate plan not available in any other carriers. Instead of paying $30/month, the referrer-subscriber is paying $24/month because of the 3 referred subscribers.
This rate discount will increase loyalty and retention among price-sensitive subscribers.
Frequently asked questions about case study.
What is involved in a case study?
An inLOGIC case study consists of the following:
- Non-disclosure agreement is signed to ensure client’s confidential information is protected.
- Scope assessment using real business requirement or proof of concept.
- Analyst from Client will be available to provide clarification of business requirements.
- inLOGIC team to analyze and implement business requirements using the elementLOGIC system
- Corresponding result evaluated and presented.
How long is the usual duration of a case study?
Duration depends of the scope of assessment.
Normally 1 or 2 month.
We are located in Europe, can you still do a case study?
Yes. inLOGIC is headquartered in Canada and operates globally.
"Through 2010, enterprises will miss the equivalent of 5% to 10% of annual sales as lost opportunity that could have been captured through improved management of sales territories, quotas and compensation plans."
